The Masoretic Text is a Hebrew version of the Jewish Bible (the Old Testament), designed for study by future generations. It was written by the Masoretes between the 7th and 10th centuries A.D., with the oldest extant (surviving) partial manuscript dating to the 9th century A.D. and the oldest complete manuscript dating from the 10th century A.D.
