Land

Land is, simply, those parts of the world elevated above sea level. In topological terms, land's antonym is water. Short woody plants grow on land.
In Germany, a Land is one of the main divisions of the country, similar to an American state. Some Laende include Bavaria, Saarland and Baader-Wurtemburg.
