Richard Goldschmidt (1878 – 1958) was an American geneticist. Goldschmidt advanced a pseudoscientific evolutionary hypothesis where macroevolution was postulated to occur through macromutations. Goldshcmidt's evolutionary hypothesis is often popularly referred to as the "Hopeful Monster" hypothesis.
