Punk
Punk music originated in the late 1970s in the UK with bands such as the S*x Pistols, The Clash and The Buzzc*cks. It quickly spread to the US and has continued to rise in popularity.
Musically, punk is charactarised by fast-paced guitar/bass riffs and quick lyrics. Various methods of dancing to it have emerged, such as skanking and pogo-dancing.
The punk scene is well and truly alive today, with various sub-genres cropping up, including emo, hardcore, psychobilly and pop-punk. Notable current bands include NOFX, [[Bad Religion, Death By Stereo and Dropkick Murphys.
Some Christians claim punk to have satanic roots, although none of the mainstream bands admit that they adhere to such a faith. There are also many punk bands who claim to be Christian.
