Lisa Fithian is a legendary organizer who operates in the world of anti-globalism anarchists, antiwar protesters, and union activists[1], who specializes in aggressive âdirect actionâ tactics and has been linked to Occupy Wall Street[2], the violent 1999 WTO Riots[1], and the Ferguson riots.[3]
The The New York Times described her this way: "You don't go to Fithian when you want to carry a placard. You go to her when you want to make sure there are enough bolt cutters to go around".[4]
While clashing with police in the devastated Lower Ninth Ward of post-Katrina New Orleans, Fithian said of herself: "When people ask me, 'What do you do?' I say, 'I create crisis, because crisis is the leading edge where change is possible."[5]
