Jacques Chirac (1932-present) is the current president of France. He has announced that he will not seek a third term in office.[1]
Chirac is a lifelong liberal who contributed greatly to France's decision not to participate in the War on Terror. (Like Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, he did not fight in the Vietnam War.) He has been quoted as saying that the free market is not the solution to all problems.[2]
