Consistent handedness and religiosity/irreligiosity
The journal article Handedness and Religious Beliefs: Testing the Two Possible Accounts of Authoritarianism and Belief Updating by Eugene Y. Chan published found that among Americans consistent handedness (either strongly right handed or strongly left handed) was associated with belief in biblical creationism and authoritarianism.[1] In addition, Chan cited two other studies which found that consistent handedness was associated with biblical creationism beliefs.[2] Consistent handed may be a better predictor for authoritarianism and Chan indicates that the left hemisphere of the brain is involved in monitoring for consistency and consistent handed individuals evidence less interhemispheric interaction than their inconsistent counterparts.[3]
There is a significant correlation between authoritarian regimes with state atheism and the spread of atheism (see: Atheism and authoritarianism and Atheist indoctrination).
