Historicism (Social) is a doctrine that historical events are governed by Natural Law, which in turn determine social and cultural developments, beliefs, and values specific to each period of history.

Historicism (Religious) is a doctrine whereby all scripture must be understood in its historical context. When applied to prophecy such as Daniel and Revelation, historical events are searched for that match the text, compared to surrounding context and to then add nothing not supplied by the text itself. Subscribers to this doctrine are known as Historicists.
