Kaspar Kubli
Kaspar K. âKapâ Kubli, Jr. (April 21, 1869 â December 22, 1943) was a RINO and Klansman[1][2] from Oregon who was a state representative for a number of terms from the 18th district. He was the speaker of the state House of Representatives from 1923 to 1924. Indeed, his initials spell out "KKK."

He is frequently labeled erroneously as "right-wing" and a "right-wing populist" despite having supported progressive policies such as eugenics and forced sterilizations.[3]
Political career
During the 1922 gubernatorial election, Kubli opposed incumbent anti-KKK Republican governor Benjamin Olcott and supported the latter's primary challenger Charles Hall, who did not prevail. Kubli also joined the pro-Klan Democrat nominee Walter M. Pierce in supporting the anti-Catholic Compulsory Public Education Act as a ballot measure that year which would shut down school choice and forbid parents from sending their children to religious schools.[4]
A staunch opponent of religious freedom, Kubli sponsored the 1923 bill in the Oregon House which banned teachers in the state's schools from wearing religious clothing.[5][6] The wrongfully enacted law was repealed nearly a century later in 2010 over opposition from the ACLU.[7]
