I posted this problem last week elsewhere and never received a response, just as I received no response from the email I sent when it happened the week before that... So I guess I'll try it here. From 10am to 1030pm (Eastern Time) I was unable to edit any page on this site, including my own user and user:talk pages. It occurred suddenly while I was removing dead end pages and according to my "block records" I have never been blocked, yet this is at least the 4th time it has happened. :If there isn't a FAQ already with this question, it should be added. At night, the wiki is locked to editing. I would propose that instead, some other means of deterring vandalism be implemented. For example, edits could be throttled at night. People could be allowed to make, say, two edits every 30 minutes. This would limit the potential for vandalism; users in the Edit group would be able to keep up with reverting it without the need for a sysop to be around to block people. Another possibility is to give more users sysop rights and [https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Establishing_a_hierarchy_of_bureaucrats establish a hierarchy of bureaucrats] to keep them in check.
