Ancient history can be defined as all that happened from the beginning of writing until AD 600.  Ancient history created civilization and achieved many of the greatest intellectual breakthroughs of all time. Literature, drama, mathematics, philosophy, and language are just a few things which we are indebted to the ancients for.
