==  Private Investigator Rod Wheeler & Ed Butkowski ==

Rod Wheeler, sometime employee of the DC Metro Police, was contracted by the Seth Rich family to investigate the murder of Seth Rich.  Ed Butkowski volunteered to pay for the PI.  Claim has been made on the internet that Rod is unlicensed as a PI.  Aaron Rich, Seth's brother (apparently an IT computer expert possibly with top secret government clearance) was involved. According to Rod Wheeler:

: Aaron was adamantly opposed to Rod investigating the leaks or Seth's employment with the DNC.  Aaron refused to give Seth's computer to Rod for examination.  Rod also could not get access to any cell phone of Seth's, nor the official phone log for the murder night.  Rod was featured in a local DC Fox5 story by reporter Zimmerman and on Sean Hannity's program also.  As aired, Rod initially indicated that he had an FBI or federal source for the examination of Seth's laptop indicating a connection between Seth Rich and Wikileaks.  However, soon after, Rod received a cease and desist order from a lawyer of the family against his activity.  And Rod apparently recanted what he had said.  By early August, 2017, Rod had filed a lawsuit vs Fox News for defamation.  Rod and his lawyer have spread the accusation that President Trump knew about the Fox5 story before it was published and encouraged Fox to publish it.  Rod's accusation is backed by a message from Butkowski, which message indicates White House approval of the story.  However, Butkowski claims that he was joking.  The White House denies prior knowledge of the Fox5 story.

::Sean Hannity was attacked over his part in the Rod Wheeler / Seth Rich story with advertisers urged to drop him.  The Seth Rich family opposed him broadcasting on Seth Rich, alleging family grief, as if family grief should impede investigation of a murder and a national issue of DNC leaks during an election.  Hannity referred to the family concerns and stated that he would not mention Seth Rich for the time being, though he was continuing the investigation -- and Hannity did not retract anything he said or did.  ([[User:Thunkful2|Thunkful2]] ([[User talk:Thunkful2|talk]]) 23:42, 2 August 2017 (EDT))
