::In Hersch's long, complicated, and storied career (and I remember My Lai) I cannot think of an instance he was wrong or misled, although I'm sure it's happened. Generally he doesn't speak on a controversisl issue til he's sure of his facts, even when it's years or decades later and the story has faded from public memory. He really does not sensationalize. ::As craxy as it is, these things do happen. A Congressional staffer is dispatched to FBI headquarters to perform a oversight function. An FBI source discloses information legally. The staffer returns and reports to the chairman. The chairman or staffer leak to Hersch, and follow your scenario from there. It would be legal without disrupting, obstructing, or compromising an investigation. [[User:RobSmith|RobS]]^{[[User talk:RobSmith|''Deep Six the Deep State!'']]} 20:15, 3 August 2017 (EDT)
