For better or worse, populism is where the GOP base is (Blue collar working class people especially). And they are not going to vote for the Trump-Lite candidate DeSantis as long as Trump is a viable candidate. Because why have Trump lite when you can have Trump. DeSantis is funded by the business/establishment part/class of the GOP. And Nikky Haley is too much of a neocon for the GOP base which is sick of America's forever wars.

I know you are going to come back that DeSantis is more of a family man and religious man, but unfortunately people like that don't win elections now ([[Rick Santorum]]'s and [[Mike Huckabee]]'s presidential candidicies failed). But this could change as religious people are having more kids than nonreligious/irreligious people and there is a growing backlash against the liberalism taught in public schools and universities.

One of the main ways America's Christian conservatives are getting their way on the federal level of government is by proverbially sneaking conservative Christian policies in through the back door by putting pressure on predidential candidates and presidents to appoint conservative judges such as the SCOTUS court and to enact conservative policies. While this approach turned over Roe vs. Wade, the same SCOTUS court approved homosexual "marriages". To give another illustration, the famous strategist [[Sun Tzu]] wrote: ""In all fighting, the direct method may be used for joining battle, but indirect methods will be needed in order to secure victory. In battle, there are not more than two methods of attack – the direct and the indirect; yet these two in combination give rise to an endless series of maneuvers." Christian conservatism wins at the federal level are largely gained now by indirect methods (Puting pressure on presidential candidates and presidents to appoint conservative judges and enact conservative policies) rather than directly getting a hardcore Christian conservative into the presidential office.
