The dollar coin has had a rocky history of introduction in the United States. The latest attempt of introduction was introduced by [[George W. Bush]] in the [http://www.usmint.gov/mint_programs/$1coin/index.cfm Presidential $1 Coin Act of 2005]. These coins are to depict the images of [[Presidents Of The United States]]. The first coin in this series shows the image of [[George Washington]], the first President of the United States of America.
The initial run of coins from the [[US Mint]] were allegedly sabatoged by an operator at the mint, and do not posess the Constitutionally required phrase, "In God We Trust". It is suggested that these coins be exchanged at a bank for properly struck coins, as currency not posessing the mark of "In God We Trust" may not be accepted as legal tender within the United States.
