:Whether or not these Canadians were drug dealers, I don't know. But the death penalty for certain types of drug dealers does save lives and a lot of misery since certain types of drugs kill a ton of people plus cause a lot of misery. As the eminently logical Spock said, "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few."  Singapore is tough on drug dealers and they have a very family-friendly and safe society that is highly educated (Drug addicts breed a lot of crime as do drug dealers). But Singapore has its problems too such as its low birth rate that is below a replacement level of births.
