So Russia is very SOL.

Now does that mean that I have some kind of hatred of Russia or Russians? Absolutely not. I still plan on visiting Crimea and St. Peterburg, Russia. And as a nation,  Russia has definitely punched above their weight in various things in the past such as chess players, novelists, ballet, technology in the past, etc.

My prediction is that the wealthy people of Russia will eventually want to raise their living standards so there will eventually be a reapproachment of Russia with the West. So some comprise will be made regarding paying some reparations to the Ukrainians.

So the bottom line is that given Russia's poor prospects for the future, my interest in Russia is far below my interest in more up-and-coming countries such as India, Philippines, Kenya, Indonesia, etc. In addition, my interest in other topics is much higher given Russia's problem-child country status under the inept "leadership" of Vladimir Putin.
