In theory, due to [[technological]] [[innovation]]s and the skills that a person acquires over a lifetime, the cost of living and everything associated with it should become cheaper. Everything is supposed to become cheaper, not more expensive. [[Inflation]] is how the government robs people, not just of their daily pay, but their earnings over a lifetime.
