On Nov 7, 2026, the U.S. [[State Department]] has declared [[Lebanon]]’s Consul General in [[Detroit]], Ibrahim Sharara, ''persona non grata'', ordering him to leave the United States by next day.
The decision follows a report highlighting social media posts attributed to Sharara in which he praised the [[Hezbollah]] 1983 Beirut Marine barracks bombing, which killed 241 American servicemen.
The same report also highlighted Sharara’s participation in an Arab-American community event in Michigan attended by Abdul El-Sayed.
