Jinxmchue is right, 'alright' is not technically wrong (although it is one of those words that gives us English teachers nightmares). However, it is generally considered to be inappropriate for formal writing [http://www.bartleby.com/64/C003/023.html], along with 'a lot', 'nice' and 'got'.
