Dadaism was a movement in art in the early 1900s that produced a wide variety of visual, performed, and written "art".  They were largely anti-war, and even "anti-art".  Their work questioned and challenged conceptions about what art was and what it meant.  They had a significant influence on later modernistic art trends, particularly surrealism.
