The National Football League (NFL), is composed of 32 professional football teams from the United States. The NFL was orginally formed in 1920 as the American Professional Football Association but in 1922 it officially adopted the name of the National Football League as it is today.
Teams play sixteen regular season games. Twelve teams qualify to the playoffs, which culminates in the NFL's championship game, the Super Bowl. The Indianapolis Colts defeated the Chicago Bears in the 2007 Super Bowl.
