The Somoza family ruled Nicaragua from 1936 to 1979. They there overthrown by Leftist Sandinista rebels in 1979.

- Anastasio Somoza García from 1937 to 1947 and again from 1950 to 1956.
- Luis Somoza Debayle from 1956 to 1963.
- Anastasio Somoza Debayle from 1967 to 1972 and again from 1974 to 1979.
