A Romans emperor was pretty much expected to have both a wife and a catamite. (A practice sanctioned by the precedent of Jupiter, who had both Hera and Ganymede.) But they were still outraged by Elagabulus' feminine behavior. He was a transsexual before it was medically possible to fulfill such a desire. PeterKa 00:58, 30 July 2014 (EDT)
