Chuck Baldwin
Charles Obadiah "Chuck" Baldwin (born in La Porte, Indiana; May 3, 1952) is an American politician, Baptist minister and radio talk-show host.
Baldwin, was born in La Porte, Indiana on May 3, 1952. Baldwin graduated from La Porte High School in 1971 and for two years attended Midwestern Baptist College in Pontiac, Michigan. He met and married Connie Kay Cole there.[1] Baldwin changed his career plan from law enforcement to an evangelistic ministry;[2] he moved to the south,[3] and enrolled in, and graduated with a Bible diploma from, the Thomas Road Bible Institute (now the Liberty Bible Institute at Liberty University). He then received his bachelor's and master's in theology through external programs from Christian Bible College of Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Baldwin has received two honorary doctor of divinity degrees, from Christian Bible College and from Trinity Baptist College in Jacksonville, Florida.[1]
On June 22, 1975, Chuck and Connie Baldwin and four other individuals held the first meeting of what would become the Crossroad Baptist Church in Pensacola, Florida.[1] He retired from Crossroad in 2010 and became pastor of Liberty Fellowship in Kalispel, Montana.
Baldwin He hosts a daily one-hour radio program, Chuck Baldwin Live, and writes a daily editorial column carried on its website, on News with Views, and on VDare.
Political activity
From 1980 to 1984, Baldwin served as Pensacola chairman and then state executive director of the Florida Moral Majority, organized by the Rev. Jerry Falwell of Lynchburg, Virginia.[1] Baldwin helped carry the state twice for Reagan electors. Baldwin helped Falwell register some 50,000 Christian conservative voters.[4]
In 2008, Constitution Party nominated Baldwin as its candidate for President of the United States. He was the 2004 Constitution Party Vice Presidential nominee, running with the 2004 Constitution Party Presidential nominee, Michael Peroutka. He has been an outspoken critic of President George W. Bush as well as other leaders in both the Democratic and Republican Parties. He supported Congressman Ron Paul in Paul's unsuccessful bid for the 2008 Republican Party Presidential nomination. His running mate in 2008 was Darrell Castle, a lawyer from Tennessee. The Constitution Party Presidential ticket was on the ballot in 2008 in 37 states, and was a qualified write-in ticket in 11 states. Baldwin received 199,314 popular votes in the 2008 Presidential election which was about 0.15 percent of the total[5].
In November, 2011, Republican Montana gubernatorial candidate Bob Fanning selected Chuck Baldwin as his running mate.[6] Baldwin withdrew his candidacy for lieutenant governor on February 12, 2012, several months before the June primary.[7] He was replaced on the ticket by Joel Boniek, former State Representative.[8] Fanning went on to receive 2.3% of the vote in the Republican primary.[9]
