Benjamin Disraeli (1804–1881) was an early founder of the Conservative Party in Britain who served twice as prime minister of the United Kingdom. He had in intense rivalry with William Gladstone.

Disraeli, a lifelong Christian (Anglican) of Jewish ancestry, succeeded Lord Derby in leadership of the Conservative Party. Disraeli was also an accomplished writer who penned romances.
