A shoe is an item of footwear, usually constructed of leather and consisting of a more or less stiff or heavy sole and a lighter upper part ending a short distance above, at, or below the ankle. Shoes protect the feet from getting hurt. They also create friction for ease of movement and can help back problems.

A shoe is also a device used in casinos to deal cards.
