Vril-ya

The Vril-ya, according to esoteric doctrine, are a race of beings who dwell in vast caverns inside the earth, and have control of a natural energy called Vril. Although they resemble human beings they are said to be descended from frogs. In his 1871 novel The Coming Race Edward Bulwer-Lytton described how an unnamed narrator managed to find his way down to the land of the Vril-ya. Though published as fiction, many have taken this as truth - including the Nazis, who sought, unsuccessfully, to harness the power of Vril for their own uses.
