ACARS is the acronym for Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System, by which aircraft transmit brief datalinks between aircraft in flight and the information station on the ground, usually by satellite or airband radio. An ACARS datalink will include but not be limited to the aircraft registration number, the flight number, the airline, the IATA airport codes of the departure airport and destination, the amount of fuel remaining.
