The Cy Young Award is given annually to the finest pitcher in each of the National and American Leagues in professional baseball, by a vote of sportswriters. It is named in honor of the one of the greatest pitchers in the early 1900s.

The winner is also eligible to compete for the Most Valuable Player award, but rarely does the same player win both awards.
