Chip

Chips are a traditional British working-class method of preparing potatoes. The potatos are peeled and sliced, generally into finger-sized slivers, and deep fried in lard or oil.
This is either done at home, in a special chip-pan, or often the chips are purchased from a chip shop, a common fixture in any British town, and often the centre of the local community.
Fish and chips is a common meal, though chip shops will also sell pie and chips, sausage and chips, deep-fried Mars bars, and pickled eggs.
French Fries are an imitation of chips made with reconstituted potato pulp.
Americans use the word "chips" to refer to potato crisps.
