Isaiah 7:14
The Hebrew word "Almah", "×¢×××" actually translates to a young, marriageable woman who is still under the protection of her family. So, the NRSV translators seem to actually be translating Isaiah 7:14 more accurately. But I'm no expert. NP
- In translating this word as "virgin" KJV follows the Latin and the Greek versions of this passage. Biblical quotations in the New Testament are from the Septuagint (Greek) rather than from Hebrew. NRSV follows the Masoretic text, which was compiled around AD 700. It is likely that earlier Hebrew manuscripts varied widely in content. The Septuagint is almost a thousand years older than the Masoretic. PeterKa (talk) 04:58, 18 November 2017 (EST)
