Isaiah 7:14
The Hebrew word "Almah", "עלמה" actually translates to a young, marriageable woman who is still under the protection of her family. So, the NRSV translators seem to actually be translating Isaiah 7:14 more accurately. But I'm no expert. NP
- This passage is quoted in Matthew with the woman described in Greek as a virgin. The KJV translators had a policy of "harmonizing" Old Testament passages with the quotations given in the New Testament. Matthew got his version from the Septuagint, or Greek scripture. Hebrew is the original language. But on the other hand the Septuagint is almost a thousand years older than the Masoretic text used by NRSV. PeterKa (talk) 21:45, 18 November 2017 (EST)
