The 2018 Midterm elections will be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2018.

In the House of Representatives the Republican Party holds 235 seats to Democrats' 193 seats, with seven seats vacant.

In the Senate the Republican Party holds 51 seats. The Democrats hold 47 seats, and the remaining two are held by independents who caucus with the Democratic Party. The Democratic Party is defending 25 seats (two of which are held by independents) of the 33 seats up election, while Republicans have only eight seats to defend. The Democratic Party must defend seats in 10 states that supported Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton in 2016.

Despite mainstream media fake news reports, the Democrats would have to win 48 House seats and seven Senate seats to qualify historically as a "wave election", an unlikely prospect.
