The 2018 Midterm elections will be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2018.

In the House of Representatives the Republican Party holds 235 seats to Democrats' 193 seats, with seven seats vacant.

In the Senate the Republican Party holds 51 seats. The Democrats hold 47 seats, and the remaining two are held by independents who caucus with the Democratic Party. Of the 33 seats up for election, the Democrats are defending 25 (two of which are held by independents), while Republicans have only eight seats to defend. The Democratic Party must defend 10 seats in states that Donald Trump won over Hillary Clinton in 2016.

Despite mainstream media fake news reports, the Democrats would have to win 48 House seats and seven Senate seats to qualify historically as a "wave election", an unlikely prospect.
