Athos

Athos is a famous peninsula, also known as "Holy Mountain," that extends from the coast of Macedonia into the Aegean Sea, terminating in Mount Athos. There have been twenty Orthodox (Christian) monasteries located on Athos, safeguarding important historical manuscripts and works of art.
