The Somoza family ruled Nicaragua from 1936 to 1979. They were overthrown by Leftist Sandinista rebels in 1979.

Anastasio Somoza García from 1937 to 1947 and again from 1950 to 1956.
Luis Somoza Debayle from 1956 to 1963.
Anastasio Somoza Debayle from 1967 to 1972 and again from 1974 to 1979.
