VxWorks is a proprietary real-time operating system (RTOS), which is owned by Wind River Systems. It is embedded into a wide variety of deices, such as automobiles, microwave ovens, and even spacecraft. Although first released in 1987, in remains the most used RTOS worldwide, to this day.[1] It supports both 32-bit/x86 and 64-bit hardware.[2]
