Twister (1996) is an immensely popular movie about a couple tracking tornadoes while also dealing with a husband's desire to divorce. The movie is surprisingly even-handed in its portrayal of the husband and wife.
It is favorable to small, enterprising inventors, and contains priceless mockery of media wannabes and sellouts to corporate funding. The movie is a bit of a tribute to small-town, rural America.
Perhaps because the movie has an underlying conservative theme to it -- it's pro-marriage -- it has declined in recent years in its rating on the internet. But it was a head of its time in anticipating the success of the Weather Channel in reporting on storms.
