Abraham Jacob Multer (December 24, 1900 – November 4, 1986) was a Democrat congressman from New York who represented the 14th and 13th congressional districts for a total of two decades, spanning 1947 to 1967. He was later a justice for the state Supreme Court, serving for nine years.
Multer was also a member of Bnai Zion, a Zionist fraternal organization at the national level.
U.S. House of Representatives
Following the resignation of Rep. Leo F. Rayfiel to become a district court judge, Multer ran for the open seat in the 1947 special election and easily won, garnering 58% of the vote over two opponents.[1] He continued being re-elected twice before running again following redistricting in the 13th congressional district,[2] where he succeeded Donald O'Toole.
