Fritter

A Fritter is any edible object which has been coated in batter and deep fried.
In the UK, fritters may be purchased form a Chip Shop along with Battered fish, Chips and Mushy peas. Alternative names for fritters in different parts of the UK are:
- Scallops (Merseyside Region)
- Scones (North East of England)
- Batch Cakes (Northern Lancashire)
Other notable types of fitter are:
- Spam Fritters
- Banana Fritters - Normally the the whole banana coated in batter and deep fried
- Pineapple Fritters - Battered, deep fried Pineapple ring
- Apple Fritters
In Glasgow, it is possible to obtain almost any food, deep fried in this manner. Specialities include the Deep Fried Mars Bar and deep fried Pizza.
