DEFCON

DEFCON is the "defense readiness condition," which is state of alertness to military conflict as determined from time to time by the United States Armed Forces.
"DEFCON 1" is an outbreak of nuclear war. "DEFCON 2" is the second-highest level, and was declared during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
