Adoption

Adoption is the voluntary acceptance by a family, typically a mother and father, of a child born to other parents.
In 1990, the U.S. Department of State issued almost 7,100 visas for foreign orphans adopted by Americans.[1] By 2006, this number had increased to 20,679 visas for such orphans.
In 2002, the number of babies born and adopted in the United States was 22,291.[2]
The legalization and promotion of abortion in certain states did reduce adoption there.[3]
