A blood moon is when a total eclipse of the Moon turns it into a copper-like shade of dark red.[1] "A total lunar eclipse occurs approximately once every 1 ½ years on average," with one occurring in the early morning on November 8, 2022 and again on March 14, 2025.[1] Many partial and penumbral lunar eclipses occur each year.
