Illinois pensions are in the worst crisis in the Nation, as of 2023.
As explained by the Illinois Policy Institute:
| â | Each Illinois household spent $2,769 funding government pensions in 2021, paying the third most for government workersâ retirements in the U.S. despite leading the nation in pension debt.[1] | â |
Since 2002, Illinois pension debt has grown by a shocking 13% annually, even after adjusted by inflation.
