Fox Derangement Syndrome is the acute onset of paranoia and the loss of rationality in otherwise normal people in reaction to the news, opinion shows, and very existence of the Fox News Channel. An early example of FDS occured on the December 1, 2003 broadcast of Hardball with Chris Matthews, in which liberal Democrat political commentator Chris Matthews asked liberal Democrat politican Howard Dean, "Would you break up Fox?". To which Dean replied, "On ideological grounds, absolutely yes."[1]
