BCE is the correct form to use when refering to ancient history "Before Common Era", a mathematical, but not philosophical equivalent of BC, or "Before Christ". Some historians have argued that the use of BC implies that all history is relative to Christ, whereas the use of BCE makes it clear that Christ is not and should be the basis of our calendar system.
