Diaspora

A diaspora is the scattering of a people (esp. of the Jews) away from their homeland. The first diaspora scattered them across the ancient world after they had been held captive in Babylon in the sixth century BC. The second diaspora was in AD 132 when the Romans destroyed the Jewish state and dispersed the Jewish people to faraway lands.
