Stephen Hawking

Stephen Hawking is a British physicist and author. He was born on January 8, 1942.

Despite suffering from Motor Neurone Disease for most of his adult life he has written books popularizing science. His most famous books are A Brief History of Time and Black Holes and Baby Universes.

Hawking is credited with the development, although not the origin, of the Big Bang Theory of the creation of the universe. Since 1979 he has been the Lucasian Professor of Mathematics at Cambridge University, a post once held by Isaac Newton and Paul Dirac.

Stephen Hawking combines his research with family life and acts to popularize science. He has appeared on The Simpsons and Star Trek: The Next Generation TV shows and contributed vocals through his speech synthesizer to the Pink Floyd album The Division Bell on the track Keep Talking.

Controversial Stance Regarding Evolution

It has become apparent as of late that Stephen Hawking has recanted in his acceptance of the Theory of Evolution. He has come out in disapproval of the theory and now states there is absolutely no evidence to support such a theory. Additionally, he asserts that scientists have "naively" accepted this theory and have not done so on the basis of the objective evidence supporting it, as there is absolutely none.
