When Lott said, "When Strom Thurmond ran for president we voted for him....And if the rest of the country had followed our lead, we wouldn't have had all these problems over all these years" I honestly thought Lott was talking about the Korean War. That if Thurmond had been elected in 1948, we wouldn't have been involved in these no-win situations like the Korea War and the Vietnam War. But the liberal bigots saw it differently.
